Statement
VE-Cadherin is a trans-membrane
protein involved in the adhesion of endothelial cells which form the lining
of our vascular system. My current work focuses
on the interaction of VE-cadherin with one of it’s intracellular stabilizing
proteins, p120. Our lab has created a p120 null cell line in which I
am currently doing functional studies to determine how the loss of p120 affects
endothelial function. I am also working with a Kaposi Sarcoma viral protein,
K5, which has been shown to increase the endocytosis of VE-cadherin by it’s
function as an E3 ubiquitin ligase. |
